WORKSHOP CHARACTERISTICS:
Educational workshops on the prevention of Venous Thromboembolism, which is one of the leading causes of fatal complications, including pulmonary embolism, in hospitalized patients.
Proper classification of patients into risk groups, and VTE prevention is a clinically proven way to reduce the occurrence of this serious complication.
The aims of the workshop:
  1. Providing an outline of what the VTE is as well as its natural course.
  2. Presentation of the major risk factors to which attention should be paid in hospitalized patients
  3. The justification for applying different methods of prevention, both physical and pharmacological, based on the EBM clinical research.
  4. Presentation of the proper techniques for prevention from the perspective of nursing staff.

WORKSHOP CHARACTERISTICS:
The workshop is aimed at getting the participants familiar with the classification of chronic wounds, wound healing process and proceeding according to the TIME strategy.
In the workshop the participant will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the new generation of bandages used to treat wounds.

Compression therapy

WORKSHOP CHARACTERISTICS:
The workshop is aimed at getting the participants acquainted with the basic rules of compression therapy, with the indications and contraindications to its use in different disease entities, as well as with the methods of thromboprophylaxis.
The participants will learn about the range of products for the compression: from elastic bands, bandages of different tension degrees, to the finished product compression.
The workshop will also discuss the method of pneumatic compression as a method of prevention and treatment of lymphatic disorders. Within the time limits the participants will themselves make a compression bandage. At the end of the workshop each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.
Depending on the interest in the workshop can be organized in several sessions.

WORKSHOP CHARACTERISTICS:
The workshop is aimed at health professionals in the field of motivating patients to change the behaviour harmful to health or social functioning, as well encouraging them to choose a healthy lifestyle.
The workshop will include: the usage of Prochaska and Di Clemente Transtheoretical Model, built on the basis of many other theories, as well as various training methods, such as: group discussions, presentations, role play., etc.

WORKSHOP CHARACTERISTICS:
The workshop is aimed at the improving the practical abilities to establish therapeutic contact with the patients. It will also focus on deepening the workshop participants’ awareness with regards to the phenomena occurring during the contact with the patient, especially the awareness of the psychological nature of the difficulties, which occur in this type of contact.
In a general outline the workshop is based on a led group discussion, concerning particular difficulties in contacting the patient, described by any workshop participant. This discussion will be led according to the rules provided, including both the the perspective of helping people (nurse, doctor, physical therapist), as well as the patient's perspective. It is an excellent opportunity for the participants to practice empathy skills and to improve personal sensitivity for the contact with the patient. The workshop will be led by two persons - the leader and the co-leader.
